Artist Statement:

Leah Cunningham’s work is equal parts impending storm and the calm
that comes thereafter. In a wave of spontaneous mixed media she
presses hard edges under soft, smooth surfaces, daring the viewer to
ask questions. Sometimes simple and understated, her work relies on
its playful approach to texture. Much of her materials are treasures
once lost or discarded amidst everyday items, resurrected in a fresh
way through her lens. Like her art, created in a process over time,
her inspiration came to her in pieces. After living in various
creative cities across the country, spending her time with artists and
musicians, she couldn’t help but add that creative milieu to her
repertoire. Her art work as been featured at Diesel Cafe in Davis Square,
Voltage Coffee and Art in Kendall Square, Bloc 11 Cafe in Union Square,
LAP Gallery in Waltham and currently Espresso Royale Cafe in Brookline.
She also sells artwork and prints on Etsy.  Her post work has been featured in
Spin Magazine, Runners World, and billboards in NYC.
She hopes to continue to nurture her affection for mod podge and paper with love.
